Outdoor Acrylic Painting

This is a painting class for beginners and intermediates. Learn the basics of acrylics while using beautiful downtown Phillips, home of the Sandy River and birthplace of Fly Rod Crosby, as our inspiration.

In case of inclement weather, the class will be held indoors.  Meet at 11 Pleasant Street, Phillips, ME. Supplies are not included. If you do not have your own supplies, stores like Walmart and Reny’s Department Store have reasonably priced art supplies. A list will be provided upon request.

Conversations, Coffee & Crafts, Summer Term

Please join us for a monthly Zoom get-together for coffee, conversation, and crafts.  Settle in with your favorite craft, bring your coffee, tea, or beverage, and visit with Gold LEAF friends.  Crafts are not essential, and guys are welcome! The goal is to get together and spend an hour or more talking with friends.

NOTE:  The summer term begins June 1, 2025. Please register if you wish to continue or are new to the class.

Traditional Chinese Fabric Arts and Crafts

An introduction to both the elegance of formal Chinese court embroidery and the beauty of complex folk stitchery traditions. Participants will have an opportunity to learn about, see, and even to touch numerous examples of Chinese fabric arts, while experiencing and discussing the complexity of contemporary and traditional Chinese culture.

For nearly forty years, John Rosenwald and Ann Arbor have taught and traveled throughout much of China, experiencing life in the largest cities as well as in rural areas. They have been fortunate to create perhaps the largest collection of Chinese peasant paintings, to become among the first collaborative translators of contemporary Chinese poetry, and to gather a remarkable and diverse cluster of Chinese fabric arts and crafts.
