NOTE: This class is full, but you may enroll in Composite Lab Tour 2.

Composites Lab Tour at UMO. This tour will walk us through the ASCC (Advanced Structures and Composites Center) with explanations of wind turbine testing, ocean float testing for turbines, other composite experiments, and much more.

The lab work is ever-changing. We shall be there for a little over an hour, so prepare to have your hairdo destroyed by the required hard hat you'll be given to wear. The tour starts at 11:15.

Lunch on your own, by carpool group. Some carpool groups may choose to take the following option.

Fall/Winter walk Option. For those who are hoping to be part of the winter walking series, we will offer a walk on the Orono Bog Boardwalk located a short ride from the UMO campus. It is a level boardwalk, one-and-a-half miles long, which loops back toward the parking lot.

It is self-guided with signs describing the carnivorous plants and terrain, but there will be at least one Maine Master Naturalist in attendance. The bog walk begins at 1:30. Members registered for the tour but not the winter walk series may still participate in the bog walk as part of the Bangor outing.

Carpooling:  Meet at the Park N Ride lot next to Walgreens at 9:15 am.  Leave at 9:30 am and arrive at 11 am.  The tour begins at 11:15 am.
