A Tour of Maine Grains, Skowhegan Mill-site
with Kayla Bess
$8
In-person
Since 2012, Maine Grains has manufactured locally grown stone-milled grains milled on-site in the renovated jailhouse in downtown Skowhegan Maine. During the tour, you will learn about the mill's unique history, the process of transforming a jail into a mill, how stone-milled flour is made, and what Maine Grains is hoping to accomplish in the years to come. The tour of the facility is from the bottom up, so you can see the MG's team of talented millers at work and the beautiful Austrian stone mills busily humming away, transforming whole grain into flour.
